American Standard Faucets - The Benchmark For Fixtures For Toilet Restoration
I recently refurnished my house and let me tell you, it was messy. Especially the plumbing. I do not care what anyone says - it is supposed to be easy work and simple, but it simply isn't half as easy as it's supposed to be. When we installed it with American standard taps & American-standard toilets, we were bothered by all sorts of problems. The American standard taps did not seem to fit the piping we had at first, and we were frequently beset by leaks that threatened to ruin the floor. The American-standard toilets would not set on the floor correctly, and so we had to use the bathroom sitting sideways for an entire week, & hold fast to the shower curtains for support. I'll tell you, attempting to install our American-standard faucets and American-standard toilets gave us an American standard mess.
It was not really about the American-standard taps & American-standard toilets, but more about the layout of the pipes. They were old pipes, & we even suspected there may be lead solder in them, which is a scary thought. The new pipes were of a varying size which was more properly callibrated to the American-standard taps and American standard toilets, but they would not correctly fit in the holes drilled for the old pipes. So we had the problem of the American-standard taps, toilet, tub, & other equipment not fitting correctly with the plumbing which, it does not matter how hard we tried to jury rig it, triggered leaks. Our fabric shower curtains were sitting in water on the floor.
Of course, even with-out the difficulties with the American-standard taps, we would have really had a lot of difficulty. American-standard faucet or not, you really can't do anything about the hard water if you have your home in a country community like ours with-out installing pricey and hard to operate, water softener system. Before we did that, our shower curtains were crunchy and stiff as if we'd starched them. And American-standard taps, & American-standard toilets and tubs do nothing for you if your water pressure is abyssmal, which trust me, ours is. So what should have taken nothing more than a week or perhaps two ended up taking us months & months & while we struggled to install our American-standard taps, the bills kept piling up. Installing our American standard plumbing was a nightmare, & ended up costing us much more than it would have to just hire someone to do it. Next time, if God forbid there is a next time, we are hiring some-one to fix our American-standard faucets and plumbing.
